About

Our story

My mother, who had Alzheimer’s, lived with us for 9 years. As the disease progressed, my health suffered to the point where I was no longer able to work. It was a very stressful time. But I was fortunate to have very supportive family and friends. Even with that, I still fell into a deep depression, I felt trapped in my own home. I couldn’t even get a shower without wondering if Mom would wander outside. Eventually, all of the doors had multiple locks and alarms.

Mom went home to be with the Lord in 2018. I still miss her. After her passing, I wondered how many caregivers felt as I had. I wanted to help and in my prayers I asked God what I could do. The answer was CHAIN.

There are over 44 million unpaid caregivers in the US. The demand for in-home care and day care is on the rise. Without expensive long term care insurance, which most people can’t afford, the caregivers bear the financial burden alone. Sadly, the constant care of a loved one is physically and emotionally draining.

CHAIN is a hands-on ministry. It provides a way for caregivers to get a much need break without causing a financial hardship. We also hold monthly support groups for caregivers. We get to know our clients and visit them when possible. Before leaving, we never fail to ask if we can pray with them. If we can, we fulfil any immediate needs such as books to read.

We hold craft classes at adult daycare as well as adult living facilities. Volunteers make sensory blankets for Alzheimer’s patients. We look for ways to make people happy in a world where they feel they have lost their identity.

The need is great. Please consider making a donation. We especially need people who can commit to a certain amount every month. Even small amounts make a difference. Little is much when the Lord is in it. CHAIN also needs volunteers in all areas of our ministry.

If you know of someone who needs our help, or if you feel led to become a volunteer please contact us. God bless you!
